Congratulation to our High School Trap Shooters!

On Saturday, June 19 the High School State Trap Tournament took place at the Mason, MI clay target fields on a day alternatively filled with rain, wind, and sun.  The Meridian Early College High School (Sanford) trap team finished 30th out of approximately 150 competing teams, with a score of 418 points.  The team members included: Chase Ehmcke, William Francis, Jessica Kolevar, Dawn Schultz, Andrew Vanderbush, and Alexander Wall.  The team has been using the BCCGC facility on Wednesday afternoons to compete in their Spring League this year, and was coached by Ryan Cicinelli, MECHS science teacher.

Highlights from the meet include Jessica Kolevar, who placed Second for JV Females with 81/100, and Dawn Schultz, who placed Second for Novice Females with 79/100.  Jessica has been a regular at the BCCGC since she joined in the summer of 2019, and is “so thankful” for the coaching she receives from the members, especially Kelly Dishaw.  We looks forward to seeing what the team will do next year!

Also pictured on the left is our own Marissa Berghuis!  Marissa is the third generation clay shooter here at Bay County Conservation and Gun Club.  Marissa's father, Chris, and Grandfather, Tom, have been shooting clays for 45-years.  Marissa joined the Midland High School Trap team in 2018. In addition to pointers from her father and grandfather, Marissa is coached by Laurie and Rick Kennemer.  Diligent practice and family support have paid off for Marissa as she placed 3rd in her conference and was 7th in State Female Varsity Shoot.  Marissa will be competing in the National High School Championship this July!
